[SOLVED] The app won't load after installing new GPU
I just installed a RX 580 8gb 2048sp GPU to try to get more out of this program. I had been using a GTX1050 2GB card just prior. The app starts to load then it closes without explanation.
Please help and hopefully no one is going to tell me that the issue is that the card is not compatible. It is a newer card by a year in manufacturing date. It has way more RAM. I am confused as to what's going on. I was having real fun with this app and wanted to do live mode.
I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling. Rebooted. Same result. I saw another thread talking about running a system file scannow and I did that. Same result. I tried uninstalling my Visual C++ runtimes and reinstalling. Same result.

I have added new RAM to the system as a hunch but that did not help either. I did notice my 16GB of RAM suddenly dropped to 8GB according to task manager. I assumed my RAM was going bad. I am puzzled. To my understanding this GPU should not be causing the program to crash but it's literally the only thing I had changed aside from the RAM but I did that after like I said. In the recommended section it lists the regular RX 580 as a compatible card. This one only has 2048sp though which is just a bit lower than the standard.

There is a noticeable stutter when I move the mouse while it hangs at 0 percent loading, before it closes out its own. Most of the time I don't see a crash report to send to the developers. I really don't want to have to remove this GPU and go through the hassle of returning. I am hoping this is a software problem. Literally no other program is crashing on loading.

Ok so I was viewing the Event Viewer in Windows 11 and it seems what is crashing the program is nvcuda64.dll. I have uninstalled the NVIDA drivers from my old card or so I thought. I will look into finding a way to uninstall the cuda completely. I think what's probably happening is that the program is still being told to load cuda and it's not seeing the card so the dll being incompatible with AMD cards crashes the program.

I have it figured out. Apparently, it WAS the remains of the NVIDIA drivers still hiding on the system as I suspected. I had to use a deep driver remover called Display Driver Uninstaller. Apparently, the uninstaller that NVIDIA includes did not for some reason remove everything. So now all is working. I had emailed support about it but they can disregard. It was nothing to do with the software on their end.
