48kbps - 128kbps - HQ ... They sound all the same (very low quality)

Unfortunately, the audio quality setting doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't matter if I choose 48kbps, 128kbps or HQ - It all sounds like a bad phone connection. This didn't just happen recently, it's been like this from the beginning and I've been using the program for weeks now.

  I'm very interested in this because I am still debating whether to get a subscription. If the quality is no better with the higher kps, then why should I bother to pay?
