In fact, we should be able to tweak, at least on the voices we build, the parameters so that they can sound better in other languages.

I need to customize the voices I build to work better in Brazilian Portuguese, the 6th most spoken language,

    Thanks,

    Americo

You can already build voices in foreign languages. I built a voice using French as the source (Audrey).

You can already use all voices with different languages. It will sound like you have an American accent but it does work.

Sounding like an american accent is not an option! :)

The creators have said they do not plan to add accent support. They see use cases where scammers can use accent changing to hide their accents. It's an ethical line they've drawn.

    Where did they say that?

Also, if they are going to add French as a language, they need to add French (CA) and French (EU). TTS between the two don't sound the same.

The founder has been on the record in the Discord many times about how they will not be allowing for changing of accents.

They may add French (CA) vs French (EU) for classification and search purposes but no TTS is planned for Voice AI anytime soon.

We are not talking about TTS. The issue is having the speech-to-speech engine sounding like real people in other languagues such as Brazilian Portuguese and French (EU).

Yes I know I was responding to EthanWoflcat with the TTS comment since they mentioned TTS.

Like I said the engine lets your natural accent come through. Voices do need the ability to handle the sounds of languages (which is a limitation right now) but the accent will always be on you as the user to bring.

To clear up: voice.ai will soon be able to be used in other languages without an English accent.

What Selystria is talking about is you talking into the mic with a specific accent, and the output will have a different accent you set it to, in order to hide the accent you have when talking into the mic.
